Experimental study regarding the effects of a hyperlipidemic diet under estrogen deficiency

Abstract: Our study observed the role that the n3 fat acids and the lignans (phytoestrogens) from the composition of flaxseed can have on the markers of endothelial dysfunction and on the metabolic lipid changes, under endocrine imbalance (surgical menopause) associated with a hyperlipidemic diet. The present work intends to determine the quantity of vWF antigen with the help of the immune-enzymatic “sandwich” technique for a lot of 48 female rats belonging to Wistar breed that got 3 types of diets: standard, hyperlipidemic and hyperlipidemic diet supplemented with lignans. The vWF antigen that is present in the sample gets attached from the anti vWF antibodies, at the surface of the microtiter plate. The sample concentration can be determined by extrapolation and by reporting it to the standard used. The ovariectomy, an experimental model of atherosclerosis that is induced by the estrogen deficiency, was characterized by the appearance of an endothelial dysfunction, which was shown by the increased values of vWF. The results of the present experimental research regarding the effects of an adjuvant therapy, that prevents the appearance of the endothelial dysfunction by nutritive supplements requires the study to be continued on humans, too, because of the multiple advantages of using flaxseeds.
The effects of hormonal therapy in natural and surgical menopause

Abstract: Between 2009 and 2011 we monitored the clinical and paraclinical evolution of 109 patients for 24 months. Hormonal therapy in menopause proved its efficiency, especially for the improvement of the climacteric symptoms, as the long term effects on cardiovascular diseases is still being studied. The patients treated with Climara and Riselle showed, after 2 years of treatment, a libido and a decrease of hot flushes. No matter what the type of menopause you monitor, the LDL cholesterol shows a significant decrease for the lots that are treated with hormones. The average values of HDL cholesterol significantly increased for the patients who were under hormonal treatment. The average values of glycaemia decreased for all the lots under treatment

Abstract: In our days we have a great number of cardiovascular diseases with atherosclerotic etiopathogeny. That`s whythere is a important preocupation for identifying the atherogenic risk factors (lipid metabolism disorders). This studyfollows the effects of the ovarian hormones deficit in surgical menopause (experimental ovariectomy). The absence of theendogen estrogens disrupts the lipid metabolism and diminishes the antioxidant capacity. Another goal was to evaluatethe lipid profile improved by taking a flax seed diet rich in phytoestrogens. The experiment will be performed on whiterats, females, of the Wistar race. The supplementary diet with flax seeds will be administered to the ovariectomizedgroups as well as to the control groups. In the case of animals with a hormonal deficit (ovariectomy) we found thepresence of dyslipidemia: hypercholesterolemia and/or hypertriglyceridemia. Supplementing the diet with flax seeds ledto the decreasing of the total seric cholesterol (p>0.05) and of the seric triglycerides (p<0.05). The seric HDL-C presentedslight increases (p>0.05), after supplementing the diet with whole flax seeds, which suggests the protection of theendothelium, with the diminishing of the risk of triggering endothelial dysfunction. These results demonstrate thebeneficial effects of phytoestrogens from flax seed on lipid metabolism in experimental menopause.

Abstract: One of the most important roles of hormone replacement therapy is to remove the symptoms of menopause, especially the vaso-motor and urogenital tract appeared immediately after oophorectomy. The decreased risks of cardiovascular diseases are the long-term benefits. The cardiovascular protective effect of estrogen occurs by different mechanisms, all leading to reduction or slowing atherosclerotic processes and this improves cardiovascular performance. After 2 years of treatment no patient in group 1 interrupted therapy.
THE ROLE OF THE EMPLOYEES’ REPRESENTATIVES IN THE LIGHT OF THE NEW ROMANIAN SOCIAL DIALOGUE LAW

Abstract: In the environment of constant social and legislative changes, the field of labor law, as part of the private law domain, is always a subject of debates. The year 2011 is a relevant benchmark for the major modifications brought to the field of labor law in Romania. The amendments of the labor law significant acts had as role to find efficient means of dialogue between the social partners. The legislative provisions represent only a premise for a successful social dialogue. In fact, the key of communication between the social partners is the negotiation. The employees’ representatives, as social partners, may represent the employees’ interests within a unit, in the absence of a union. In the light of the new Social Dialogue Law the employees’ representatives may also participate in negotiations even in the presence of a union organization. There is no doubt that the new Social Dialogue law and Labor Code inserted new concepts meant to facilitate the labor relationships and social dialogue. It’s only to be seen in which way these new regulations will affect the labor relationships.
Coating Dependent In Vitro Biocompatibility of New Fe-Si Nanoparticles

Abstract: Magnetic nanoparticles offer multiple utilization possibilities in biomedicine. In this context, the interaction with cellular structures and their biological effects need to be understood and controlled for clinical safety. New magnetic nanoparticles containing metallic/carbidic iron and elemental silicon phases were synthesized by laser pyrolysis using Fe(CO)5 vapors and SiH4 gas as Fe and Si precursors, then passivated and coated with biocompatible agents, such as l-3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine (l-DOPA) and sodium carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC-Na). The resulting magnetic nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, EDS, and TEM techniques. To evaluate their biocompatibility, doses ranging from 0–200 μg/mL hybrid Fe-Si nanoparticles were exposed to Caco2 cells for 24 and 72 h. Doses below 50 μg/mL of both l-DOPA and CMC-Na-coated Fe-Si nanoparticles induced no significant changes of cellular viability or membrane integrity. The cellular internalization of nanoparticles was dependent on their dispersion in culture medium and caused some changes of F-actin filaments organization after 72 h. However, reactive oxygen species were generated after exposure to 25 and 50 μg/mL of both Fe-Si nanoparticles types, inducing the increase of intracellular glutathione level and activation of transcription factor Nrf2. At nanoparticles doses below 50 μg/mL, Caco2 cells were able to counteract the oxidative stress by activating the cellular protection mechanisms. Abstract: This paper investigates the relationship between the two parameters, aquifer media and hydraulic conductiv-ity, and assesses their reliability for aquifer vulnerability assessment. To evaluate the possible non-inde-pendence of the parameters in question, sensitivity analysis procedure was used in a GIS environment. The procedure was tested in three areas where aquifer vulnerability was assessed, corresponding to three different hydrogeological settings. The applications demonstrate that non-independence is confirmed and is more evident in alluvial and volcano-pyroclastic aquifers.

Abstract: Aviation English and Corpus Linguistics have been put together and focused by some investigations especially those regarding Aeronautical English (the language used between pilots and air traffic controllers in international radiotelephony communications). However, English used in aviation maintenance, specifically in written documents, has not been as much researched. This paper briefly explains the main concepts considering Aviation English and pre- sents—based on previous researches—aircraft maintenance professionals’ needs and regulatory agencies’ requirements related to language proficiency. Afterwards, it summarizes information about the most important technical publications for aircraft maintenance and describes the compilation of the Corpus of documents related to aviation maintenance (CoDoRAM). At the end, some ways the corpus can be used to teach vocabulary and grammar in English are pointed out. Although corpus compilation and analysis have been proved to be valuable for research and instructional purposes, most of publications encompass English for academic purposes teaching context. For that reason, this is a way to inspire new projects related to English used in aviation maintenance and the use of corpora in English for specific purposes classes.

Abstract: New Information Systems Development Methodologies (ISDMs) are suggested in the belief that their deployment would be beneficial to consultants in their work. A large number of ISDMs already exist but their value has been questioned and at the same time new methodologies continue to be introduced in an attempt to support and improve the practice of information systems development work. What is not always clear from current studies is that ISDM is a multi-perspective and cross-discipline phenomenon. Although a large amount of knowledge of ISDM is available, different disciplinary interests have resulted in fragmented assessments of it. This paper intends to identify theoretical perspectives applied in the conceptualization of ISDM. A review of the literature on ISDM was conducted and four different theoretical perspectives were identified: 1) system, 2) structure, 3) innovation, and 4) knowledge. While each perspective provides various overarching depictions of ISDM, the synthesized view of ISDM provided in this study reveals the complexities and ambiguities of a multifaceted phenomenon such as ISDM. Suggestions for an alternative conceptualization of ISDM are provided in an attempt to facilitate the investigation of ISDM.

Abstract: We present the case of a 4 year old girl whose adenoidectomy had to be performed via an endoscopictrans oral approach due to the unexpected inability to fully open the mouth during the procedure. The patient had previously been taking Risperidone for behavioral symptoms associated with her autism. The jaw tone returned to normal following the procedure and there were no complications. An interaction between the Risperidone and the anesthetics were the likely cause of the trismus.
